A true story of a Tibetan refugee

Memories of Lost & Hidden Lands

Documentary Film

At its heart, this documentary film is a story about a visionary lama forced into exile in 1959. The film explores Rinpoche’s lives-long connections to successive Dalai Lamas and his relationship with his community. It is a journey over the last sixty years of Tibetan diaspora in India explored through Rimpoche's eyes and illustrated with footage from the Tibetan archives. Ultimately "Memories of Lost and Hidden Lands" examines the way one spiritual leader has coped with the pressures of working to preserve his culture in exile.

"A small portion of tibetan heritage remains in Lhasa but beyond that, most of the five or six thousand monasteries that once covered Tibet have been destroyed, leaving no physical reminders behind." Garje Khamtrul Rimpoche
